Child Poverty at new high

In class we learned about the increasing poverty in children and now its one of the highest rates of child poverty recorded. It talked about how the people who were in poverty never even thought they would be in that situation. It's kind of scary knowing how badly America is doing when it comes to economics, I know my dad is having major money problems and my step mom has been laid off twice since early 2010 because of economic reasons.

"Poverty in the United States is cyclical in nature with roughly 13 to 17% of Americans living below the federal poverty line at any given point in time, and roughly 40% falling below the poverty line at some point within a 10-year time span"
I think this is a major problem when people are starting to sleep in their cars. A child should not have to experience the years they change the most in a motel where people are doing drug deals and getting shot all the time. If they are raised around it they might become like it when they are adults, and we don't need our criminal rate to go up because of poverty. Little to no people should be living in the "land of opportunity" hungry. I honestly think the lack of jobs is because of all the illegal immigrants. I know plenty of factories would rather higher less payed immigrants to make more money for themselves than to hire actual citizens whose pay would be a bit more.

Nearly 15 million children in the United States – 21% of all children – live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level – $22,050 a year for a family of four. Research shows that, on average, families need an income of about twice that level to cover basic expenses. Using this standard, 42% of children live in low-income families.

Thats a quote from NCCP, a group who is all about child poverty.  This is really sad, people need to focus more on this than warfare and such.
