Caylee Anthony murder
I am guessing most people have heard about the poor toddler, Caylee Anthony, being murdered or "lost" [as the suspected mother says] and the trial that has been going on for quite some time. This mother had not done anything to report Caylee's missing self but instead chose to party and go on shopping sprees. She finally admitted to her mother that her child has been missing for 31 days, and the mother, Cindy, calls the police. THEN, the mother decides its a good idea to continously lie to the police about Caylee's whereabouts and other random things. She is OBVIOUSLY guilty, no mother loses their daughter and does not call the police, unless you wanted your daughter gone. No mother parties her life away as her daughter is no where to be found. Caylee's body was found with duct tape, the same duct tape that was found in the mothers garage, and a heart sticker on her mouth. The mother claims that her father did it, but I feel like everyone knows thats just a cover up story. This mom wanted to party, not take care of a child. I don't understand how anyone could kill their 2 year old daughter. If you do not want to take care of your child, just put them up for adoption, do not kill them?! Something is wrong with people who find it okay to do something like this. Casey Anthony is on trial for the death penalty for this, if found guilty she will be given a pain free death, honestly I hate the death penalty but what goes around comes around.

Abusing Adderol.
College kids are supposedly abusing prescription drugs, that AREN'T PRESCRIBED TO THEM, because its not making them high, but its making them smarter.
The abused drug is called Adderol. It IS an ADHD and ADD drug to help people concentrate on schoolwork.
I totally understand why people would abuse this drug, I have bad ADHD and it really does help you do your work and not get distracted. It does not make you smarter at all but it helps you try as hard as you are able to on your work, while most teenagers or college kids think they are but aren't.
I think this is silly, if you really have problems concentrating just go to your doctor and ask to be prescribed Adderol and they will most likely give you it.
If college kids don't think its as bad because they arent using the drug to get high, but to be smart, they arent very smart as they think they are, because ITS STILL ILLEGAL, and still wrong.
You shouldnt need drugs to make you do good in school.
That is half assing it and letting these drugs make you try, thats silly, I no longer take them so I have to actually try my hardest to do good.

Midget being fired for being too short?!
"EL PASO, Texas — The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is suing Starbucks for firing a dwarf who asked for a stool to perform her job as a barista at an El Paso, Texas shop."
So my understanding is they fired this woman for being TOO SHORT. This is extremely prodigious, for she cant help how tall she is.
Oh so she shouldn't of applied if she knew she couldn't do these tasks? Um, look at the economy, people are striving for jobs and money. Its a job, and the people who hired her should of made sure she was able to preform tasks before they hired her. She is a midget so they should have right to do that, or they should have her do jobs that they can reach. Firing her because she is too short is rude, and they probably could of found an alternative to help her without causing danger, they just didn't want to put the effort.
I understand why people think its understandable to fire her, but don't hire a midget if you can tell that she isnt taller than the counter. Common sense people?

Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah Winfrey is a talk show host who has inspired many.
"She has not only made it to the top with the cards stacked against her, but she has also made extraordinary contributions to our global community through her philanthropic efforts." - a quote from time top 100 about oprah.
Time says if Women ruled the next 100 years, we would all be better off.
I think Oprah is a very influential person. I watch her show everyday and she has brought awareness to many things I have never thought about. She has helped so many people throughout her career, and she is my idol.
I think she is the most generous person, and I know watching her show just makes me want to do good deeds for others.

Jennifer Egan, an influential author.
Jennifer Egan, 48, is a famous author who just so happened to be the top influential people of the year in TIMES magazine. During her career she has wrote amazing books such as The Invisable Circus and The Keep. For the past fifteen years she has used to journalism to bring up the ideas such as homeless people and gay teenagers. Times said she is very inspirational and I agree.
Using her writing skills to bring up awareness for such issues is a good idea, and I think she is a very inspirational/influental person.

Stereo-typical behavior
I believe stereo-typing is a big issue in this world. We all do it, even if you say you are not racist or sexist or etc. Think about it, have you ever made a remark about person because of their looks/style,race,religion,situation? I know I have. The reason I think it is such a big deal is sometimes it affects others with a huge impact. Like forsay "Scene kids" as of what everyone seems to think I am. They have the colorful hair, piercings, crazy outfits and makeup, certain taste of music, and sometimes tattoos (well this is what people say a typical scene kid has). This is just how some people like to dress, but it is super hard to find a good paying job when you have colorful hair or metal sticking out of your face, which is unfair in my opinion since they are just expressing themselves. Another issue is illegal immigrants or "mexicans" People seem to think all mexicans that don't know english are illegal immigrants and they are job-stealing, bad people. I know there is a law somewhere in America where all mexicans can be pulled over to be checked for those papers that say you are a legal citizen.
Is it part of human nature, or are we just ignorant assholes?

PRO CHOICE!
The very opinionated topic, is abortion okay?
Well my opinion is it is, but I understand why people think it is not.
People make their opinions before thinking about the, what ifs, or the other persons point of view. To people who say pro-life, what if a teenager is raped and gets pregnant? We all know few to no teenagers are able to take care of a child when they arent even taking care of themselves fully, and do you dare to have a child with a rapist as his father? What if you get pregnant on accident, and you KNOW you are not financially stable enough to bring another baby into this world? Shall you have this baby and let it live it's life as an orphan, a life of poverty? Yeah of course you shouldnt be unprotected if you don't want a child, but accidents do happen.
Now you have to think of the pro-lifes view, how is killing a child in a womb any different than murder? Just because the baby dosn't function on its own, dosnt mean it shouldnt have any less choice of life than us. If that baby has a heartbeat, that is killing. How can you know that, that child wasnt going to be the next Ghandi? The next person to change our world for the better? You don't, but life is a game of chance, and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
This is a topic that honestly I think no one will ever agree on, and It has so many sides of it.

What is success?
I am currently watching Oprah as I write this blog. Todays topic is about, two certain questions. Has our world gone mad? What is the definition of success? As I listened to their words, I began to think of my thought about the situation. People these days seem to define success as, materials. Money, mansions, nice cars, you have a job that gives you a status, that is success. But think about it... is your passion truely to become a rich lawyer? Well of course some people's dream do involve materials and such, but I feel that no one really appreciates sentimental things, and don't know what is enough. Look at nature. The trees, the plants, they only take the nutrients they need to live, and lions, they only kill one deer, and that is enough they need to live.
Let me make an image for you. There is two children, both love to draw. They both want to become artists when they grow older, for that is their passion. It is now highschool, one boy still strives to become an aritst, while the other still has the passion to do art, but let his parents decide his future career. Now they are adults, ones an artist and the other is a rich buisness man. The artist may not be rich, but you bet he is much happier for doing what he loves instead of doing what will make him rich.
I one day will go to africa and live my life helping orphans, and it might not be a successful life to others, it will be to me for that is what makes me happy.
““When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”” John Lennon

Procrastinators Unite! [:
Well, I was not sure on what to do my first personal blog about, so I decided to write it on something I am just super amazing at! Procrastinating!
First off, I will say that this is the biggest issue with kids and homework. Being a child with horrid ADHD, my mind can go anywhere but on the thing I need to actually focus on. This is usually the ONLY reason I don't get my homework done. Actually, this blog post is late because I PROCRASTINATED! Woooo!
StumbleUpon: This website is every procrasinators favorite website. You check all the topics you are interested in, click stumble, and wa-la! You are getting hundreds of websites that really interest you. Therefore, its the best place to go when you are working on something that you'd love to get away from.
Cracked: Another website I tend to go to when I am trying to procrastinate. It has all these weird articles like "10 things you never knew you were doing wrong" It is really fun to read!
There are many more things you can do to help you procrastinate on the web, just google it!
P.s. This probably is a suckish blog, I just am used to writing blogs on news articles.

Child Poverty at new high
In class we learned about the increasing poverty in children and now its one of the highest rates of child poverty recorded. It talked about how the people who were in poverty never even thought they would be in that situation. It's kind of scary knowing how badly America is doing when it comes to economics, I know my dad is having major money problems and my step mom has been laid off twice since early 2010 because of economic reasons.
"Poverty in the United States is cyclical in nature with roughly 13 to 17% of Americans living below the federal poverty line at any given point in time, and roughly 40% falling below the poverty line at some point within a 10-year time span"
I think this is a major problem when people are starting to sleep in their cars. A child should not have to experience the years they change the most in a motel where people are doing drug deals and getting shot all the time. If they are raised around it they might become like it when they are adults, and we don't need our criminal rate to go up because of poverty. Little to no people should be living in the "land of opportunity" hungry. I honestly think the lack of jobs is because of all the illegal immigrants. I know plenty of factories would rather higher less payed immigrants to make more money for themselves than to hire actual citizens whose pay would be a bit more.
Nearly 15 million children in the United States – 21% of all children – live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level – $22,050 a year for a family of four. Research shows that, on average, families need an income of about twice that level to cover basic expenses. Using this standard, 42% of children live in low-income families.
Thats a quote from NCCP, a group who is all about child poverty. This is really sad, people need to focus more on this than warfare and such.

BYU COLLEGE BOY SUSPENDED.
A basketball player from BYU was suspended for having pre-marital sex with his girlfriend. He was suspended from all basketball for the rest of the season.
BEFORE I STATE MY OPINION ON THIS MATTER, READ THE HONOR CODE OF THIS SCHOOL.
http://saas.byu.edu/catalog/2010-2011ucat/GeneralInfo/HonorCode.php#HCOfficeInvovement
It's pretty long, just skim.
My thoughts are , all college boys (and girls) want sex. You should not expect young adults to wait on having sex until they are married. If you raised a child who is abstinent, I SALUTE YOU.
They should not of been suprised... ON THE OTHER HAND.
It definitely says that you shall not have sexual relations unless you are married with that person.... and he SHOULD of read that before he came to college here. He did not have to go to college at BYU, he went on his own will. That is why there isn't really an excuse for him breaking the rules.
I don't know which side I would take on this situation. If I was the person in charge of giving his punishment I think a warning would of been alright.

NO TO SENATE BILL 5!
From everything I know, Senate Bill 5 is a bill that if passed, will cut the bargaining right of teachers and other public union workers.
"If Senate Bill 5 passes the Ohio Legislature, we will no longer have the right to Collective Bargaining. If that happens, we will all be in great jeopardy. This bill would take away the rights of tens of thousands of AFSCME members to negotiate for wages, health care, sick leave, dental, and other benefits."
This is a high concern for my family because my father will lose 30 percent of his pay if this bill is passed! That means we have to spend 400 dollars less each month. I found a whole website that tracks all the rallies and information about this bill, and it's pretty useful.
ANYWAYS. I usually can see both sides of the coin when it comes to issues, but this I do not see. If this bill is passed then teachers who have worked for a long time will not get their well worth pay for sticking around for so long. This /probably/ means that alot of people who would think about going into the teaching career will not, and it will start to become a crappy job people get just because they need the money. LIKE MCDONALDS! [Maybe not as extreme] Well obviously we wont be getting as good as education as if we had people who actually cared about our knowledge working. OH WAIT! Thats not all the reasons why this stupid bill needs to be demolished. IF THE TEACHERS DON'T HAVE BARGAINING RIGHTS, THEN WHO STOPS THEM FROM TURNING OUR CLASSROOMS INTO A RECK?!? [50 people in one class] They will begin to lay off teachers for "finance" purposes and then that means the classes will grow in size. Well the bargaining rights are gone so the teachers can't fight against that. Who the hell(sorry for my language) can learn with 49 other people in the room?!? You definatley can't get the attention you need from a teacher to fully understand the lesson and I bet they will be much more grumpy after teaching 6 classes of 50 each day. SHEESH.
Now heres where I would start talking about why this bill may be helpful. BUT I DON'T SEE ANY GOOD THINGS ABOUT IT! Please inform me why we need this bill then maybe I could write a paragraph about it.
By the way, this is the first blog I'VE EVER MADE. I am unsure on what youre supposed to do.... I might just stick to video blogging. Sounds cool.
HERES A VIDEO ABOUT IT.[If I didnt explain enough] Its from Febuary 16.
